Pinacoteca Museum: Hilma Af Klint — Role: Concept, Design & Art Direction
There is art after death.
Born in 1862, Hilma Af Klint was a Swedish painter and psychic, celebrated as a pioneer of abstractionism. Her art is often described as a reflection of her spirituality—not the other way around. Since she saw her work as a way to reach higher spirits, she kept it hidden from the public eye until it was discovered in a basement 20 years after her death. When the Pinacoteca Museum hosted her first exhibition in Brazil, we were tasked with creating a visual identity that respected her legacy and harmoniously blended with her artwork, while feeling unique at the same time. We developed an adaptive visual system using only glyphs, characters, and variations of Pinacoteca’s own font—Cera family—serving as analogies for her geometric style.
